Guantanamo.- The First Secretary of the Party in Guantánamo, Yoel Pérez García, presented a special recognition to the staff of the Provincial Radio Station CMKS during the ceremony that celebrates the radio station’s 88th anniversary on June 27.

From the theater of this media outlet and before a representative of the workers, the Party leader thanked the station for its work in promoting the identity and culture of the people. In his words of praise, he considered radio as a captivating medium.

At the same time, he expressed feeling like part of this family, where he has had the opportunity to address the people of Guantánamo and interact with them through the program “En Frecuencia con el Pueblo” (On Frequency with the People).

He also congratulated the station’s staff for their third-place obtained at the National Radio Festival, where Guantanamo broadcasters won 13 awards, and congratulated the audience for their loyalty to the station considered the Friendly Voice.

Oscar Hodelín, director of the Guantanamo radio system, expressed his gratitude for the recognition and his commitment to continue working with a sense of belonging and respect for the listeners, a representative of whom were present at the gala preceding the celebration of CMKS’s 88 years.

During this day of celebrations, the provincial station received other honors from various organizations and institutions, such as the Policarpo Pineda Library, the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of the Interior, the Cuban Workers’ Federation, Venceremos Newspaper, and the Provincial Culture Union.

The CMKS Station also recognized radio families such as Cristina Pavón and the Mosquedas in Baracoa, as well as prominent listeners, including Juan Cala Colón, Yoraixis, La Mora del Guaso, Modesto Arango, Erial Iglesias, and Rafaela Cruz Valiente.

Also present were several members of clubs that enjoy radio programs such as “De Extremo a Extremo,” “Bajo el Cielo de México,” “Alborada” with the “Corredores de la madrugada” and its inspiration, Miriam Obré, “Sazonando” directed by Leidiana Falcón, Jorge Naranjo with “Desde Aquí,” and Rolando Cervera, promoter of the “Por quien merece amor” project, dedicated to the elderly, among others.

During celebration on the 88th anniversary of the provincial radio station in Guantánamo, the plaque identifying the institution’s theater was unveiled, which bears the name of the pianist “Lilí Martínez.“ His life and work as arranger and composer are collected in the book “El hombre y su música,” (The Man and his Music, Lili Martínez Griñán) that now houses in the CMKS station’s archives.
