Guantánamo.- Today I’m not talking about outstanding baseball player Robert Luis, but about a boy who is just 12 years old, who has the same name, but the surname is Charlot Hernández. He is a native of the Felicidad de Yateras town, in the Guantanamo municipality of Yateras. He is emerging as a Cuban Athletics Champion.
This young boy won the baseball throwing competition at the last Pioneer Games held in Guantanamo, with a 65. 65 m. throw, and he also won bronze in the long jump with 4.69 m.
In this way, the Yatera native son of Robert Luis Charlot Tháureaux and Lissette Hernández Michel, trained from a young age under the guidance of Professor Zenaida Alonso Guiamet. As being the best Cuban among boys in the National Pioneer Athletics Cup, he earned the right to attend the Junior Pan American Games in Nicaragua.
In the Central American nation, the little boy from the mountains at the eastern end of the archipelago won the gold medal with a 67.45 m throw.
Congratulations to Robert Luis for this result at his young age. Congratulations to the school sports and athletics authorities: continue with the specialized care, keep an eye on him, and dedicate all the time possible to his training, because we can all see him as a true Champion of tomorrow.
