Guantánamo.- Currently, the economic and social development strategy is being consolidated in the maritime municipality of Caimanera, with its strategic lines pursuing sustainable territorial progress and improving the population’s quality of life.
Despite the limitations of its land, efforts are being made to increase food production levels in new areas, handed over to producers. These lands are dedicated to the cultivation of bananas and vegetables, with greater implementation of science, technology, and innovation.
The main priorities are aimed at increasing the volume of local construction material, thereby increasing the number of completed homes in the municipality. To this end, the territory boosts the completion of kilns for the production of clay bricks.
The municipality of Caimanera also prioritizes the diversification of exportable products and import substitution; the expansion of apiaries for the production of honey; as well as promoting the use of renewable energy sources, strengthening productive chains, and increasing local projects that have an impact on economic, cultural, social, and service development, with changes in the productive, technological, and energy matrix in a sustainable manner and in harmony with the environment and its bay.
July 2025 will close in Caimanera with a broad popular constructive movement, as the municipality is awarded the provincial venue for the event commemorating the 72nd anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada barracks in Santiago de Cuba and the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks in Bayamo. This motivation will promote a movement to refurbish public entities and complete social projects.
Despite the limitations caused by the despicable presence of the U.S. naval base, the work of the Revolution is present at every step, and its children and youth, men and women, totaling more than 10,372 inhabitants, live peacefully and happily, confident that their future will always be better.
