Guantanamo.- The National Central Act for the 72nd anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks began this Saturday in the Plaza de la Revolución Máximo Gómez Báez in the Cuban central province.

Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, the first secretary of the Central Committee of the PCC and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, the Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés Menéndez and the Commander of the Rebel Army, José Ramón Machado Ventura, preside over the event.

Members of the Political Bureau, the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the PCC and authorities of the Party and Government in Ciego de Ávila attend the act, as well as 370 representatives of 23 countries in solidarity with Cuba. In the square, the Ciego de Ávila people were also present.

The ceremony commemorates the events of July 26, 1953, when a group of young people led by Fidel Castro attacked the Moncada barrak, in Santiago de Cuba and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barrack, in Bayamo.

The biggest challenge has been to turn Ciego de Ávila into the productive garden of Cuba.

The first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba in Ciego de Ávila, Julio Heriberto Gómez Casanova, stressed in his speech that this land not only treasures the memory of the noblest heroic deed, but lives intensely every page written by Cuban dignity.

In the heart of the province stands the historic Trocha de Júcaro a Morón, a symbol of resistance that, far from dividing, became a nexus thanks to the heroism of the Moms.

“Stop being a border to become a bridge between the glorious past and the revolutionary present,” he said, quoting Fidel, who defined her as an indestructible bowler who unites thought, heroism and the will to fight.

Gómez Casanova thanked the leadership of the country for electing Ciego de Ávila, the birthplace of the Gómez Cardoso brothers, to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, an honor that multiplies the commitment of its inhabitants.

Since February, the province has been pushing the Blind political movement in 26, in tribute to the 130th anniversary of the Grito de Baire (Scream of independence). This is articulated in six battles that respond to the four priorities defined by the Party, meeting 230 indicators evaluated during the First Secretary’s visits to the ten municipalities.

The work system implemented strengthened the linking of the cadres with the people, prioritizing 42 neighborhoods and resolving 8 538 approaches with the active participation of the population.

Attention to children and young people in the knowledge of history has been a priority, with a leading role in the cultural sector, the party leader remarked.

He also highlighted the heroism of doctors and teachers in the face of shortages, while universities increase the training of doctors, master’s and researchers. The Ciego de Avila sport held eight national podiums, including the Tigers championship, he proudly stressed.

In energy, the province already has seven solar parks, three of them 21.8 MW built in just nine months. Tourism has met its goals, and trade and gastronomy have recovered emblematic units, with over-compliance with net sales, profits and commercial circulation, which allowed to reduce the budget deficit by 42 million pesos.

The biggest challenge has been to turn the province into a productive bastion, faithful to the legacy of Fidel and Raul, he emphasized. The planting campaign was carried out and 5,000 hectares were incorporated. State food marketing increased from 15,000 tonnes in the previous year to 36,000 tonnes in the first half of 2023. A program for the production of vegetable oil from oilseeds is promoted, three aquaculture centers were reactivated and the production pole La Cuba, a flag of Avilense agriculture, was recovered.

Among the works delivered are the rehabilitation of six operating rooms at the Antonio Luaces Iraola hospital, 22 health institutions, 16 schools, a home for children without parental care, the La Cuba agricultural market, 702 areas of electrified cultivation and 25 new water pumping services.

The centers Ciro Redondo and Enrique Varona restarted the production of torula and medulate. In addition, the Teatro Principal reopened its doors, reaffirming itself as a cultural symbol of the city.

The first secretary reported that, from productive fields to university classrooms, from community work to the defense of sovereignty led by the FAR and MININT, the Avileños are protagonists of every page of Cub’s history to. He denounced Cuba’s fraudulent appointment as a sponsoring State of terrorism and the absurd measures of the blockade, reaffirming that the Avileña and Cuban response remains that of Baraguá: We will never give up.

Finally, he extended congratulations to Sancti Spíritus and Guantanamo for their results, and ratified the commitment of this heroic people, who will not lose a single day in the struggle for Cuba.
