Guantanamo.- Guantanamo native Yarisleidis Cirilo Dubois was crowned champion in the women’s C1 200m final at the U-23 Canoeing World Championships, held in Portugal.

With a time of 47.25, she dominated the competition, beating her rivals by a wide margin.

Spain’s Viktoriia Yarchevska won silver (48.08), while the reigning world champion, neutral athlete Ekaterina Shliapnikova, completed the podium with 48.47.

This victory reinforces Cirilos’s brilliant record, as she continues to establish herself as one of the greatest figures in Cuban canoeing. Following this success, the champion is now preparing for her next challenge: the Elite World Championships in Milan, Italy, to be held in August.

Cuba continues its path toward the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, and performances like Yarisleidis Cirilo’s bolster Cuba’s hopes for more sporting glory.
