Guantanamo.- Inés María Chapman, Deputy Prime Minister, and Mijaín López, Hero of the Republic of Cuba, attended the official flag-raising ceremony for the Cuban delegation participating in the Asunción 2025 Junior Pan American Games, a multi-sport event scheduled for August 9-23 in Paraguay.

The ceremony took place at the Antonio Maceo Monumental Complex, located in the town of San Pedro, municipality of Bauta, province of Artemisa.

Athletes Yaynelis Sanz Verdecia, gold medalist in freestyle wrestling at the 1st Junior Pan American Games in Cali Valle 2021, and rower Roberto Carlos Paz received the Cuban flag from Inés María Chapman and five-time Olympic Greco-Roman wrestling champion Mijaín López.

The delegation is made up of 117 men and 113 women from all 15 provinces, 82 percent of whom come from high-performance centers.  Cuba is attending with 18 more competitors than four years ago,

According to the organizers of the 2’25 Junior Pan American Games, this second edition will feature more than 4,200 athletes from 41 countries. Who will compete in 28 sports and 42 disciplines, spread across two venues in Asuncion: the Olympic Park and the National Sports Secretariat, as well as the sub-venues in Encarnación and Ypacaraí.
