The Plaza 24 de Febrero in the Guantanamo City was a space for Guantanamo artists to pay tribute to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz on the 99th anniversary of his birth. This event was attended by Yoel Pérez García, First Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Yoelvys Labañino López, director of the Culture Sector, in the territory.

Singer-songwriters Claudio Casal and Josué Oliva, actor Eldy Cuba, bolero singer Paula Villalón, pianist René Méndez, and young flautist René Vázquez were featured in this commemorative gala, which was also distinguished by the poetic allegories of reciter María José Vizcaíno, with verses from the text “Canto a Fidel,” whom the Obbá Ilú Ará group also honored with their traditional rumba sounds.

Likewise, Guantanamo la Colmenita Children Company participated in this tribute, accompanied by the José Martí Art Instructors Brigade Choir, performing the song “Cabalgando con Fidel” (Riding with Fidel). Soloists Dayamis Lores and Lisbeth Hardis also dedicated their songs to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro to celebrate the 99th anniversary of his birth.

The Plaza 24 de Febrero in this eastern city was also the stage of the students from the Alfredo Velázquez Carcassés Professional Dance School, who joined Guantanamo artists in thpaying tribute to the leader of the Cuban Revolution with the choreography entitled “Olive Man.”
