Guantanamo.- Guantánamo received special recognition on September 7th, along with Holguín, during the commemoration of the 48th anniversary of the founding the Cultural Workers Union (SNTC, for its acronym in Spanish). The national ceremony was held in Camagüey, the province that achieved the status of National Vanguard in the Culture in Revolution emulation movement.

Katia Rodríguez Ramos, General Secretary of the SNTC, presented the recognition award to Dayanis Reyes Delgado, head of this organization in Guantánamo, during the commemorative ceremony held at the main theater in the city of Camagüey. She was accompanied by Niurka Estrada Lores, Director of the Center for Cultural Centers, and Susana Orphe Montoya, member of the National Committee of the SNTC, representing the territory’s more than 3,000 members.

In a statement to the press, Dayanis Reyes Delgado, Provincial Secretary of the Cultural Workers’ Union, sent a congratulatory message to the Guantanamo union members of this guild. Their work and achievement of emulation indicators earned them this nationwide recognition. She also stated that this recognition represents a commitment to hosting the national event for the Cultural Workers’ Day, to be held on December 14.

As part of the commemoration in the province of Camagüey, workers with more than twenty years of uninterrupted work in the sector were also recognized with the Raúl Gómez García distinction and a dozen workplaces in the host territory were also awarded the commemorative medal commemorating the 48th anniversary of the Cultural Workers’ Union.
