Guantanamo.- Harnessing soil moisture for food production and taking measures to harvest coffee are priorities in the municipality of Niceto Pérez, a territory where agriculture make up the economic base.
In an exchange with farmers, managers, and community leaders in this mountainous area, Albeinis Veranes, delegate of the Ministry of Agriculture in the province, called for the boost of various crops for personal consumption and animal feed.
He also urged farmers, cooperative members, and rural residents who join this important activity every year, to pick up all the coffee grains in the field, despite the complex economic situation and the lack of resources, which imposes new challenges on Guantanamo coffee growers.
