Guantánamo.- In Guantánamo, the Territorial Division of the Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA SA) has restored 28% of fixed-line services and 53% of radio base stations affected by Tropical Storm Melissa. While fiber optic cable outages have been repaired, the lack of electricity continues to significantly hinder full communication.

Operators, technicians, and specialists from the province, along with colleagues from the central provinces, are working under challenging conditions and bring transporting equipment and resources to help restore services as quickly as possible.

In the eastern provinces of Cuba (Guantánamo, Santiago de Cuba, Granma, and Holguín), although recovery efforts are progressing, damage has been identified affecting six towers, more than 60 fiber optic cables, more than 400 telephone cables, and more than 1,000 utility poles, according to information from the ETECSA website.
