Guantanamo.- With the arrival of the visiting fighters in recent hours, all the protagonists of the upcoming Cuban Boxing Night are now on the island.
The Mexicans Rogelio Jiménez and Raúl Hernández, the Argentinians Nicolás Nahuel Botelli, Mauro Liendro, and Nicolás Verón, and the Dominicans Misael Vásquez and Jankelly Rodríguez, are putting the final touches on their preparation to fight this Saturday at the Meliá Internacional Hotel in Varadero.
Also present in the Cuban resort town are the Moroccan Moussa Gholam, the German Malek Semmo, the Venezuelan Julio Pérez, and the Colombian Armando Fontalvo, all under the auspices of the promoter AGON Sports.
The main events of the evening will see Cubans Erislandy Álvarez and Lázaro Álvarez face Jiménez and Hernández, respectively, in 10-round bouts for the WBA Latin American Continental title.
Gholam and Botelli will battle for the Continental Gold belt of America, also over 10 rounds. The local fighter Yusnier Sorsano will rival Verón in an eight-round contest, while the rest of the bouts will be scheduled for six rounds.
Under these latter rules, Cubans Saidel Horta, Nelson Williams, Keylor García, and Alejandro Claro will make their debut in the professional world.
Horta will face Vásquez, Williams will meet Rodríguez, García will take on Fontalvo, and Claro will fight Liendro, while Semmo and Pérez will star in the other duel without local representatives.
