Guantanamo.- Víctor Sánchez Matos, the Guantanamo-born coach of the Cuban Domadores, is very happy to represent his country at the IBA Men’s World Boxing Championships 2025 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from December 2 to December 13.
He is leading the training of two-time Olympic champion Arlen López Cardona, who will compete in the 80-kilogram division.

The other Guantanamo native attending this world championship is Giovis Salfrán Mejía, in the 51-kilogram division.
The Cuban Damadores is also made up of Julio César La Cruz Peraza, also a two-time Olympic champion and five-time world champion from Camagüey, in the 92-kilogram division, and Fernando Arzola from Santiago de Cuba, in the over-93-kilogram division, along with another coach, José Ramón Amador López, also from Camagüey.
The IBA World Boxing Championships will be held in Dubai, with $8 million in prize money up for grabs.
The draw for the boxers will take place this Wednesday, December 3rd, and the preliminary bouts will begin this Thursday, December 4th, continuing until the 11th with the quarterfinals and semifinals in the 13 different weight classes.
The grand final for each weight class will be held on Saturday the 13th at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium.
