Guantanamo.- The Ana Rosa Zamora Turro semi-urban primary school, located in Guanacón, one of the vulnerable communities in the municipality of Baracoa, welcomed Joanna Kozińska Frybes, the Polish Ambassador to Cuba, along with her son Jan Jakub Frybes (Kuba) and Jeremiasz Jachowicz, a school psychologist in that European nation.
The diplomat’s visit supports the joint efforts of the aforementioned embassy and the Office of the Conservator of the Baracoa City, thanks to which a donation of school supplies was delivered to the school in June 2025.
Alejandro Sebastián Hartmann Matos, Historian of the First City and Director of the Office, visited each classroom of the school with the ambassador and her delegation, engaging in cordial exchanges with teachers and students.
Joanna Kozińska Frybes stated that her visit aims to establish collaborative ties between the Ana Rosa Zamora School and one of its counterparts in Poland, in order to cultivate values of solidarity, brotherhood, and respect in the new generations.
For their part, the children and the teaching staff shared songs, tongue twisters, and various examples of their knowledge with the guests, while also learning about Polish culture, its language, and its people.
Also present at the meeting were Miselena Iríbar, International Relations Specialist from the Municipal Education Directorate; Gladys Carmen Quintana, Director of International Cooperation at the Office; other representatives from the municipality’s education sector; local cultural promoters; and the school’s governing board.
At the end of the visit, Yamira Garrido, principal of the educational institution, and her staff offered the visitors to a display of typical products and fruits, as a token of appreciation for her solidarity that since 2025 has sown roots of brotherhood between Poland and the children and residents of the Baracoa community of Guanacón.
