Guantanamo.- In the efforts made by agriculture in the Guantanamo Province to plant nearly 1,000 hectares (ha) of rice this year, a substantial contribution comes from the Enrique Campos Caballero Credit and Services Cooperative (CCS), a grass-root unit in the community of La Jabilla, in the municipality of Guantánamo.

The delivery of fuel to producers expedited land preparation. This renowned CCS will plant 240 ha of the grain, broken down into 120 ha in the first stage, with the largest volume of planting between February and March; and a second stage, with a similar area, for the next winter season, with peaking months of September and October.

Heriberto explains that in the immediate future, Enrique Campos Caballero Credit and Services Cooperative can plant around 400 hectares per year, with the addition of new producers and land clearing to increase the area available for agriculture.
