Guantanamo.- The settlements of La Punta and Limones that belong to the municipality of Maisí, in Guantanamo Province, are provided by continuous funding from the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund through the United Nations Small Grants Programme in Cuba.

This support is earmarked for the protection of natural areas through five projects beginning in 2026.

The project selected in Guantánamo, entitled “Conservation and Sustainable Use of Natural Heritage in the Punta de Maisí Settlement,” seeks to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants.

This project, which balances the conservation of natural heritage with local socioeconomic development, was submitted by the National Center for Protected Areas of the Environment Agency and stood out among 35 proposals nationwide.
