Guantanamo.- At La Pascua farm in the municipality of San Antonio del Sur, in the Guantanamo Province, the Guilarte Pelegrin family takes advantage of their full farming potential to make the land produce.

Pedro and Alfredo, the main family member in charge of this farm, continue working defying nature, and after heavy rains, floods of rivers, and the erosion of rocks, branches, and weeds. They return to the land and make it yield a harvest.

Today they are working hard in a magnificent tomato harvest, where the whole family participates in the picking, regardless of gender or age. Being with them at work is a pleasant experience because they talk, tell stories, drink coffee, listen to music, and time passes wonderfully.

They have already delivered more than 100 boxes of tomatoes to the local market; each family or person who helps takes the ones they like. The Guilarte Pelegrin family doesn’t get rich with their land but rather contributes to feeding this community.

They also produce bananas in different varieties, tubers, corn, pumpkin, pigeon peas, and sugarcane to sweeten the palate at the end of the afternoon.
