Guantanamo.- Guantánamo is one of the Cuban provinces making the greatest progress in the transition to renewable energy, despite the economic and fuel blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States, said Vicente de la O Levy, Minister of Energy and Mines, during a working visit to the province.

Accompanied by provincial Party and government officials, De la O Levy visited the community charging and services center operated by the micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) *Oliver Fé* in Imías.

Since opening in late July, the center has provided electric-tricycle transportation, household-appliance charging, food preparation, cafeteria and grocery services, and document-printing services to more than 9,200 people.

The minister also toured the 2.2-megawatt photovoltaic park currently under construction in the aeropuerto residential area of Imías, as well as the 4.4-megawatt Ciguatos solar park in the municipality of San Antonio del Sur.

The visit concluded with De la O Levy’s attendance at the inauguration of the El Algarrobo Photovoltaic Park, located on the outskirts of Guantánamo City.
