The provincial branch of the Cuban Journalists Association (UPEC) in Guantanamo performs several activities in order to celebrate, on July 15, the 60th anniversary of the professional organization, which includes improvement workshops, sports events and the revitalization of specialized Circlesin the sector.
Taimí Fernández Pérez, president of the association in the eastern territory, said that on that day the commemorative medal will be given to five professionals and the Marcos Antonio Charón Award will be also granted.
The moment will be great chance to open a seat in the provincial Press House with images of the 13 professionals from the territory deserving the José Vázquez Savón Provincial Journalism Award, for their life’s work.
The activities for the anniversary began last May with the sessions of the first Territorial Workshop on Agrarian Journalism, held in the Caujerí Valley, in which press professionals from the municipalities of San Antonio del Sur, Imías, Maisí and Baracoa took part.
