Several research centers, companies, universities, specialists, professors and students with outstanding work in the application of science and technological innovation to solve the problems of society, were recognized today in this city, on the eve of commemorating the Cuban Science Day.
The provincial ceremony for the relevant anniversary took place today, at 8:30 am, at the Antonia Luisa Cabal Concert Hall, where the provincial delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) recognized 14 entities of the eastern territory that established alliances, shared tools, knowledge and developed common mechanisms to solve pressing difficulties.
The event was the right moment for the giving of diplomas to nine coaches and 29 students with distinguished results in National Competitions and international Olympiads on different subjects.
Master of Science Jesús Martín Pérez, provincial delegate of CITMA, said that that Guantanamo advanced in science, technology and innovation in 2023, especially in aspects related to the efforts of the Government bodies, a fundamental element to boost the processes of development in the municipalities.
He also valued the importance of encouraging talented students towards science careers to continue the imprint of current researchers, amid the constant challenges of the world.
As a culmination of the ceremony, the Annual Award for Outstanding Results in Science, Technology and Innovation was presented to professionals from the universities of the province
Since 1990, Cuban Science Day has been celebrated in Cuba every January 15, the date on which Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, historical Leader of the Revolution, defined his role in the development of the country.
