Under the leadership of the outstanding Coach Rubén Prevost Sánchez, the Indios del Guaso are going through the third phase of their preparation with the objective of achieving superior results in collective performance, which allows them to access the postseason of the 63rd National Baseball Series.

A total of 58 athletes, together with a group of coaches, including well-known players, work to improve the technical-tactical and physical elements in the different areas of the game, through a training model adapted to current demands of discipline in the Guantanamo Province.

The competitive purposes, according to the Chief, are to classify the team. The projections since the end of the 62ndNBS, the commitment of the athletes and organizers of the 45th Provincial Series as well as the efforts and resources available around the baseball phenomenon, deserve no less.

“In the defensive part we emphasize the second base, with differentiated work based on the difficulties detected in the previous matches, we also apply integrated actions in the context of the game to improve the tactical thinking of the athletes.”

“In addition, we are strengthening discipline in the educational training order and on the field, while promoting a change in the players’ mentality as an essential factor,” Prevost explained.

He added that they planned matches with schools from Villa Clara, Sancti Spíritus, Holguín, Granma and Santiago de Cuba, which will allow evaluating each of the components of the preparation.

The new manager of the Indios del Guaso, the group of coaches, he directs and the rest of the athletes welcomed the visit of prestigious professors, among whom the experienced Cuban baseball Coach José Manuel Cortina, stands out.
