A group of ambassadors from the European Union (EU) in Cuba are visiting Guantanamo, with the purpose of getting closer and learning about the particularities of the easternmost of the island’s territories and identifying new opportunities for collaboration.

Governor Alis Azahares Torreblanca received the eleven diplomats at the headquarters of the Provincial Government, where they received information on the portfolio of cooperation projects, as well as opportunities for the development of the territory.

Daysi Sarmiento Cala, director of Foreign Trade, Investment and International Cooperation of the provincial government, highlighted the working ties of the EU with Guantanamo – of more than a decade – that were strengthened during the period of confrontation with the Covid-19  pandemic.

They also knew that based on the existing potential in this region, they are currently working on the development of 29 collaboration and cooperation projects in line with the economic and social development strategy until 2030.

Idaliena Díaz Casamayor, president of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power in Guantanamo, referred to the preparations for the third issue of the BioCuba Business Fair, which is part of the Chocolate con Cafe Festival – scheduled for November 29 to December 3 this year.

This is a space trending to become the most important commercial exchange for BIO organic products in Cuba and the Caribbean, also a reference in Latin America, for being a creative and participatory platform for businesses both in the province and in the country, presenting a varied and innovative commercial exhibition with a territorial and regional character.
