From today, April 4 to 7, the Guiñol Guantanamo theater group will hold a season of performances in honor of the 54th anniversary of its foundation, which includes a cycle of theatrical performances, a theoretical section and will have as guests the territorial groups La Barca, Teatro de la Totalidad and the Carpandilla Circus Variety Group.
On April 4, the inaugural program and coinciding with its birthday, the Guantanamo Guiñol Group will present a theoretical panel at the theater hall on its challenges within the local and national theater movement, with the founders Maribel López Carcasés, Emilio Vizcaíno Ávila, Juan González Fife and Ury Rodríguez Urgellés, as protagonists.
The works “Enredos de payasos” and the premiere of the production titled “La otro Curachita”, by Carpandilla and Guiñol Guantánamo, respectively, are part of the activities of both groups on April 5 during this season; at 10:00 am at the Primary Teachers’ School, and at 2:00 at Guiñol Theater, the headquarters of the honored group.
Also on Friday, April 5, at 8:00 pm, the guest ensemble La Barca will perform the plays “Campo Minado” at Guiñol Theater, a space that on Saturday 6th at 10:00 am, they will present the premiere of the play “Chímpete- Chámpata.”
Likewise, on Saturday at 6:00 pm, the Children’s Playroom “Ismaelillo” will be the site of the presentation of the play “Chímpete- Chámpata,”performed this time by the group La Cuadra; and on Sunday, April 7 at 10:00 am, the play “Cuca,” by Guiñol Guantanamo group will be re-released in his theater hall.
For the delight of the children and in honor of the Puppeteer’s Day, from the hands of the maestro Emilio Vizcaino, “Chímpete Chámpata” or “El pícaro burlado” filled the spectators with joy and laughter. Congratulations puppeteers.
