Guantánamo – Yoel Pérez García, First Secretary of the Party in the province of Guantánamo, and Alis Azahares Torreblanca, Governor at the same level, laid a wreath in the Plaza de la Revolución Mariana Grajales Coello, in tribute to the distinguished patriot considered the Mother of Homeland.
Both political and government leaders then visited the homes of mothers of internationalist combatants, including one located on Calixto García Street between 10 and 11 Norte, where Orfelina Socorro, mother of Sergio Manuel Cortina, who died on August 10, 1983 in the Battle of Cangamba, in the People’s Republic of Angola.
Orfelina received the warm greeting and a bouquet of flowers from the visitors, an opportune moment to reiterate the promise of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, that our martyrs are neither forgotten nor dead.
