Guantranamo.- The changüí group Jibaro, from Puerto Rico, is one of the sensations of the XI Elio Reve Matos National Changüí Festival, in Guantánamo, where they take the energy of the main exponents of the genre, declared intangible heritage of the Cuban nation.

At the press conference held at the Casa del Changui Chito Latamblet Veranes, the main venue of the event, the Puerto Rican group showed their skills acquired in the performance of the country music original from Guantanamo, as a sign of brotherhood and gratitude among the Antillean peoples, according to the words of Jafert Murgia, director of the group that is from the Bayamón municipality, in the sister nation.

The Nengón the Imías group,  honored in the event for its 70 years of foundation, opened the cultural activity of the press conference that ended with the concert of Robertico y su Sincopa Uno.

The main organizer of the event from the Provincial Center of Music Lili Martinez Griñan, exchange with the main press media of the province and the country, referred to the nine presentations by researchers from Cuba and the United States, to be presented at the Rafael Inciarte Colloquium: Seeds, parallels and projections of changüí., dedicated to the 115th birth anniversary of investigator and musician Inciarte.

The chagüí festival, in addition to the theoretical spaces, will have the usual competitions of bongo and marímbuleros players in the Casa del Changüí, also the scene of meetings of changuisera families, children’s dance performance and the Cultural Route of Changüí through the province.

In addition to the cultural institutions of the Guantanamo City, the Festival will have presentations in Yateras, Manuel Tames, El Salvador, Caimanera, Baracoa and Maisí, where lovers of the genre can enjoy of the concerts of the bands from the United States, Puerto Rico, Ivory Coast , and the Cuban groups Elio Revé y su Charangón, Odelkis Revé and Manolito Simonet y su Trabuco, Son del Guaso, Conjunto Cuerdas del Monte, Yarima Blanco, and Michael Elizalde.

Among the Guantanamo musicians are the Changüí Guantanamo Group, the Morenos del Changüí, Estrellas Campesinas, Joyas del Caribe, the Guantanamero Organ Melodías del Guaso, and the singer Annalie Lopez.

The Casa de la Trova, the La Guantanamera Cultural Center, the Artex agency, the Café Cantante América, the La Esquina del Cine Video Bar, the Pedro Agustín Pérez multifunctional plaza and Jesús del Sol streets will be the spaces available for dance and they will offer gastronomic services.

The longest Changüí party, called Changüí Cumbancha, will take place at the Casa del Changüí, on the last day of the Festival to play and dance for more than 24 hours.
