The majestic landscape of El Cañón de Yumurí, located 28 kilometers from Baracoa city , in Guantanamo province, always impresses travelers from Cuba and around the world who visit this tourist destination.
The boat ride on the homonymous river, the swim in its crystal-clear waters and the panoramic view offered by its flora and fauna of about 900 hectares, included in the Protected Area of that site, which also offers a 7-km excursion to the Belete Waterfalls.
Alex Cesar Cardesuña, Papo, is one of the three sailors of these boats, which belong to the Flora and Fauna Company of Baracoa municipality , in which visitors sail for an hour among cliffs, gentle currents and learn about ancient legends of the paradisiacal place and the life stories of its inhabitants.
In the past, the Yumurí Canyon boatmen were recognized for their work in the products and passengers transportation in this area that allows the passage between Baracoa and Maisi municipalities. Now this activity is not only a source of income, but also a way to share joys with travelers.
