Guantanamo workers' altruism is highlightedThe altruism of Guantanamo workers can be seen in the contribution of more than 100,000 pesos so far this year to the mother-child and cancer-fighting programs of the Public Health Ministry, a sector that has been hard hit by the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba by the White House.

This humanistic gesture allows for the improvement of patients’ living conditions, the acquisition of certain drugs and spare parts, among other resources, a movement that began in the country more than three decades ago.

Adis Lafargue Duvergel, a specialist in the area of labor and social affairs at the Cuban Workers’ Central Union (CTC), highlighted the selfless dedication of the men and women who, from their workplaces, contribute to defraying the high costs of maternal and child programs and oncological diseases.

In this regard, he also highlighted the dedication of the members of the Education, Science and Sports, Public Administration, Health, Communications, Electronics and Informatics and Civilian Defense unions, among the most outstanding.

The generosity of the workers in Guantanamo this year is gaining strength by contributing to date more than one hundred thousand pesos to health programs, an initiative that is gaining strength in the heat of the process that is developing in the country, prior to the celebration of the XXII Congress of the Central Workers in January next year.
