Guantanamero homes declared Olympic familiesGuantanamo.-The declaration of Olympic Family took place at the home of Guantanamo’s champion Arlen Lopez Cardona, one of the local boxers who will represent Cuba in the upcoming summer event in Paris, France, whose inauguration is scheduled for next July 26th.

The doorway and the living room of the mother´s house of the famous boxer was almost completely full when receiving officials of the People´s Party, National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER), other institutions and neighbors, who congratulated the mother for the relevant trajectory of her son.

The simple ceremony, which took place at the home located in the southwestern part of Guantanamo city, was attended by family members of the athlete, sports glories, and active and retired boxers.

Reina Cardona, Arlen Lopez Cardona’s mother, and other relatives were proud of their son’s participation in the sport event, being his third participation in this type of event.

Previously in Guantanamo province, the homes of triple jumper Lazaro Martinez, canoeist Yarisleidis Cirilo Duboy and rower Yariulbis Cobas were declared Olympic families.

Soon, relatives of rower Jose Ramon Pelier, from Baracoa, will receive the distinction.

The homes of boxing coaches Rolando Acebal and Victor Sanchez, Nelson Perales, from canoeing, and the manager Rolando Charroo Estrada, were also declared Olympic Families.
