Leaders of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) will hold closed-door business sessions in Grenada today in the context of their 47th regular meeting.
The agenda will include discussion of key topics such as climate change, sustainable development and foreign policy, along with a focus on strengthening food and nutrition security.
The meeting should close this Tuesday with the issuance of a Final Declaration that will reflect the consensus on the issues of interest and the projections to further promote the work of the bloc.
This summit should have been held earlier this month, but was postponed due to the passage of the devastating hurricane Beryl in the area, especially in Grenada.
Precisely, the topic of the damages caused by this meteorological phenomenon and the recovery is part of the discussions of the meeting.
Yesterday, a tour of the island of Carriacou took place to show the devastation caused by Beryl there.
The leaders learned about the progress of the reconstruction work and the care provided to the victims with the support of brigades sent by Caribbean nations, international organizations and governments from other parts of the world.
