Guantánamo – The Natural and Traditional Medicine Production Center of the Guantánamo Municipality achieves about one hundred and sixteen thousand physical units of alternative medicines per month during this year.
The figure is mainly due to the production of onion syrup and tinctures of holy cane, red mangrove and propolis, natural remedies that provide solutions to the basic list of medicines in the province.
Ana Iris Navarro Rodríguez, administrator of the unit, recognized the contribution of the suppliers of Agriculture in charge of supplying this unit, in addition to two other laboratories of Natural and Traditional Medicine located in Niceto Pérez and Baracoa, respectively.
She also pointed out that until the end of the first half of 2024, the variety of medicinal plants and raw materials, bottles, boxes and labels for obtaining other formulations widely accepted by the population such as fluid extracts, ointments, lotions and creams was insufficient.
One of the challenges of the staff of the Local Production Center of Natural and Traditional Medicine located in the Guantánamo City is to maintain the monthly plan of one hundred and 16 thousand physical units of medicines despite supplying the 39 substitute lines of conventional drugs.
