Guantanamero chess player Erick Angelo Ravelo was second in the U-12 category at the 19th Central American and Caribbean Youth Chess Festival, held in San Salvador.

Ravelo, 11 years old, won 8 points, after adding seven wins and two losses, and finished the tournament undefeated, behind Salvadoran Santiago Guevara, who added a total of 8.5 points.

Eric was second in the Blitz (rapid transit) category in a tournament that featured 50 competitors in the aforementioned category.

Eric increased his Elo score to more than 60 points, bringing him closer to the title of Candidate Master at his young age, showing his future talent in the scientific game along with other children who represented Cuba in this tournament, with the Cuban delegation achieving a total of five gold medals and three silver medals.
