Guantanamo.- Under the motto of promoting climate action and protecting the ozone layer, Guantánamo develops actions throughout the year aimed at this international imperative in which the Tourism sector stands out for having 8 entities recognized in the country as free of using ozone depleting substances.
The Provincial Camping Enterprise and the Transtur and Extrahotel Palmares Branches stand out in the work to replace gases that damage the ozone layer or generate global warming, in which El Nevada unit of Palamares now joins this effort.
It was recognized during the provincial event for the International Day for the preservation of the Earth’s protective shield that took place at the Secondary School Rafael Orejón Forment, where the educational work carried out in schools was recognized.
For promoting an environmental culture, the teacher Mayra Gámez de la Cruz, who is the student’s grass-root organization leader of Rafael Orejón Secondary School, and the Provincial Radio Station CMKS were also recognized. In addition to the winning students of the contest held in the territory for this purpose, were acknowledged, and especially, the girl Natalia Borot Michel, who obtained a mention in drawing at the national level contest.
In the event, environmentalists highlighted the implementation of 14 courses on good practices in refrigeration and climate, from which 229 students were graduated, as part of the efforts to create capacities promoted by the Technical Office of Ozone project in the country.
This is one of the actions aimed at trainning students of technical-professional education and personnel dedicated to the management of this type of equipment in state entities, SMEs and the self-employed sector in general.
Guantanamo environmentalists, together with other actors in society, work to reduce the emission of ozone-depleting gases, in favor of reducing global warming and preserving life on Earth.
