Guantanamo.- In a heartfelt celebration of talent and devotion, the Casa de Cultura Diómedes Silveira Valdés in the municipality of El Salvador, in Guantanamo Province, was adorned to honor mothers on a special day.

The event “Happy Mother’s Day,” brought together art instructors and a vibrant community of amateur artists in an emotive show, in which music, dance, and literature intertwined seamlessly on stage.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the performance by the Dance Group Variedades. Their colorful and expressive choreography captivated the audience, especially the mothers who filled the venue, many moved visibly by the stirring display. Applause and cheers echoed throughout as the dancers conveyed deep emotion through their art.

Words also played a significant role in the celebration. Literary specialist Jesús Coy Rodríguez passionately delivered a carefully curated selection of poetic excerpts from both Cuban and universal authors. His recitations of motherhood odes resonated deeply, evoking strong emotions among attendees. “Poetry is the finest way to say ‘I love you,’ and today more than ever, we owe it to them,” remarked Coy Rodríguez following his performance.

Conceived and directed by the local team of instructors, the event reaffirmed the Casa de Cultura’s role as a nurturing ground for authentic art created by and for the community.

This gala made clear that in the municipality of El Salvador, love for mothers is expressed through dance, sung from the heart, and recited with the soul.
