The Executive of Patrimonial Assets organized a six-days program in the Historic Center of Havana so as to celebrate International Museum Day, as each 18th of May.
The Office of the Historian of the City informed that this year, with the slogan: Museums, sustainability and development, the celebration will focus on the fulfillment of Sustainable Development Goals.
It will mainly focus on those that refer to Health and well-being, Climate Action, Life in Terrestrial Ecosystems, Quality Education and Sustainable Cities and Communities.
The program of activities will include a space dedicated to Cuban sculptor and ceramist Marta Arjona, a figure of undeniable importance for museums and heritage in Cuba, on the centenary of her birth. One of the highlights of the proposals is the Courtyard Festival in the Historic Center, which will highlight the importance of courtyards in museums and the integration of nature and ecological elements in museum environments. The opening ceremony of the International Museum Day Week in Havana’s Historic Center will be held on the famous Calle de Madera, one of the shortest streets in Cuba.
