Guantánamo.- The work on adapting a motor grader’s transmission shaft, by Lázaro Sánchez Hernández, was highlighted during the provincial plenary session of the Science and Technology Forum corresponding to the Guantánamo Agricultural Supplies Company.
This innovation enabled to operate a machine, which had been out of order for several months. It is a response to the impossibility of acquiring the original parts on the international market due to the US blockade against Cuba.
A dozen projects were presented at the event, seven by the Base Business Unit, Agricultural Technical Services, and others from the National Agricultural Projects Company.
Among the inventive projects, the Small-Grid Design with renewable energy generation in the town of Hatibonico, by Engineer Celia Mariela De León Vidal, received a mention.
The manufacture of a medium-support bearing for a motor grader, by Juan Áreas Romero and Juan Manuel Caballero Matos, was also highlighted.
The Science and Technology Forum’s activities aim to generate solutions, innovations, and rationalizations that address the lack of resources and the limitations in acquiring and importing spare parts necessary to maintain production and services in the country.
