Guantanamo.- The Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), together with the Municipal Directorate of Culture in Guantanamo, the House of Culture Rubén López Sabariego, and the Trova House Benito Odio of this eastern city, call for the third edition of the Guitar in Hand Troubadour Contest, that share the announcement in the institutional Facebook profile of the organization that brings together the young artistic avant-garde of this territory.
The publication on this social network also points out that all applicant may participate, without age limits, whether residents of the country or not, and that there will be a competition with songs from both the traditional trova repertoire and the new trova movement, among them works by composers Manuel Corona, Sindo Garay, Silvio Rodríguez and Pablo Milanés.
The contest will be held at the Casa de la Trova Benito Odio in the Guantanamo City on August 2, in the context of the 48th edition of the Political Song Day; and the jury of the contest will be made up of specialists from the Provincial Music Center Lilí Martínez Griñán, the Culture House System and other guests, according to the AHS’s publication on the aforementioned digital platform.
Likewise, the announcement states that background will not be admitted during the performance of the musical work with which the contestants participate, and that the basic accompaniment must be with guitar and piano, as well as that to request more information regarding the contest they can contact through telephone numbers: 21 32 63 91 or 59 99 99 76, which can also be contacted by Telegram and Whatsaap.
The winners of the third edition of the Troubadour Guitar in Hand Contest will be announced on the 2nd of next month, as part of the program of the Political Song Festival, the longest running event sponsored by the Hermanos Saíz Association ( AHS) in the country, and it will traditionally take place in Guantánamo from August 1st to 4th.
