Guantanamo.- Contributing to saving lives through blood donations is a noble gesture that shows the altruism of volunteers in the municipalities San Antonio del Sur and Niceto Pérez, in Guantanamo Province, who are aware of the importance of having the essential resource for care in hospitals and the pharmaceutical industry.
The province has some 5,000 donors who respond to the calls of the Provincial Blood Bank in the time of any state of national emergency such as accidents, donors who spontaneously come to save lives in Guantanamo and other territories.
The Blood Bank in the province collected until the end of May, 4,950 plasma bags. The Blood Bank has maintained the contribution to health institutions for transfusions to patients, as well as plasma for the production of vaccines and other products, thanks to the unconditionality of donors and the efforts to guarantee that vital resource.
The provincial act for the World Blood Donation Day will take place on June 14 24 de Febrero Park, in Guantanamo city, a moment to recognize the most outstanding donors and the municipalities like San Antonio del Sur, El Salvador, Baracoa and Guantanamo for their contributions made jointly with the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR).
