Guantanamo – The linking of the Argeo Martinez sugar industry workers to sugar cane production is one of the measures adopted by the Agroindustrial Company with the purpose of guaranteeing the permanence of the labor force in a decisive sector in the economic results of Manuel Tames municipality, in Guantanamo province.
This measure is intended to ensure greater income to the workers economy of the only active sugar mill in Guantanamo province, which has accumulated nine consecutive failures to comply with the sugar production plan, with its consequent financial impact as well as the production derived from this industry.
In order to achieve this action, work is already underway to prepare 30 hectares dedicated to sugarcane cultivation, starting next year. The sugar industry will receive its own raw material for the first time, in addition to the raw material paid by 12 cooperatives of the province each harvest.
This is one of the experiences currently being generalized in the country as part of the actions approved to save the sugar sector.
During this stage, 45 percent of the labor force in this industry will be linked to the repairs, in order to guarantee better efficiency indicators in the next harvest, and another important number of workers will be incorporated to diverse training actions; another way to achieve superior results in the sector that decides in the fulfillment of the plan of the economy of Manuel Tames municipality.
