Guantánamo – The deterioration of roads, highways and other access roads to several mountain communities in Guantánamo poses challenges and requires alternative courses of action, given the limitations of fuel, means of transport and other resources.

A significant percentage of the roads in the province are in  regular and poor condition, which affects, together with the fuel deficit, the access of means of transport for the transfer of passengers and cargo.

The issue has wide repercussions in the delegate’s accountability meeting to his constituents in the Yacabo Arriba constituency, in the Imías Municipality.

At this meeting, the participants analyze the situation of the road that gives access to this community, located more than 400 meters above sea level. However, for its inhabitants, nothing is impossible and at this meeting, they agreed to carry out a mobilization in order to improve the quality of the abrupt road.

With the support of the voters, some of the geographical accidents of the road were reduced, and with this, the passenger and cargo transport service returned.

The Yacabo Abajo settlement, established on April 18, 1983, is distinguished for being one of the largest producers of banana fruit, its main source of employment is agriculture.
