After awards for the best programs and journalistic works, the Provincial Radio Festival concluded in Guantanamo, after intense days of process of deliberations and exchange of experiences among professionals in the radio sector.
Due to its aesthetic and sound design, the Jury awarded the Grand Prize of the event to the artistic work Vencedora del Tiempo (The Winner of Time), by the renowned journalist Martha Reyes Noa, in the topic Centenario de la Radio.
Puños cubanos en el boxeo professional (Cuban Fists in Professional Boxing), an interview by journalist Gerardo Cesar Terrado, won the First Prize of the Festival, while second and third awards were given to El Don de querer (The Gift of Wanting), the life story of reporter Julio Antonio Terrero, and the radio advertisement El sargento sarco-vid, (Sergeant sarco-vid), by the Imías creator Moisés Jiménez, respectively.
The jury also granted mentions to the works Martí en Guantánamo, from the program Encuentro con el Maestro, written by the director Marlene Salazar, and to the Testimonio La Teacher comerciala, by Dianelbis Delfino.
In honor of the 101st anniversary of the emergence of Radio in Cuba, the Festival brought together various generations of filmmakers, journalists, music makers, announcers and guest specialists from the stations that make up the Guantanamo radio system.
Mabel Pozo Ramírez, provincial director of Radio, congratulated the award-winning professionals, especially those from Radio Playitas (Imías), the most prominent radio station of the Festival, and pointed out that the most important thing about the contest is to have a look at the artistic works and the appreciation of daily work, to reach all types of audience with a quality product.
From the five municipal stations and the CMKS Radio Station Trinchera Antiimperialista, nearly 30 works were submitted to the contest on different specific themes, which reflected issues of social, economic and cultural interest for their listeners.
