Guantanamo.- Out of a total of 30 works in competition, Arletys Perigot Vargas, Ennie Pérez Orihuela, and Alfredo Castro Velázquez won the awards in the Poetry category of the 46th Municipal Meeting of Adult Literary Workshops Debate, held at the Rubén López Sabariego House of Culture in the city of Guantánamo.
In this same adults category, participants of literary workshops Elisa Pla Duporté, Yulissa de la Concepción Díaz, and Amelia González Correa received honorable mentions. In the Children’s Poetry category, the award went to Osmel Díaz Ramírez for his work, “Arriando velas” (Lowering Sails), who also received an award in the Décima (ten-line stanza) category, along with Leomérides Blancart Matos.
Similarly, in the Children’s Poetry category, the jury awarded an honorable mention to Lidia Savón Mansfarrol, and in the Décima category, to Fernando Suárez Menéndez. In the Theater category, the main award went to Idalvis Olivares Peña for his play, “Colonia de fuego” (Colony of Fire).
Furthermore, Ennie Pérez Orihuela, Andrés Castañeda Velázquez, and Marileidis Medina Fariñas won prizes in the short story category of this competition, and Amelia González Correa received an honorable mention. The event, sponsored by the Provincial Center of Houses of Culture in Guantánamo, took place on April 10th and 11th.
The 46th Municipal Meeting and Debate of Literary Workshops for Adults was dedicated to the Guantánamo author and instructor, Jorge Planche Cobas. During the event, he was honored by the staff of the Rubén López Sabariego House of Culture for his distinguished career in education and creative work in this field.
