In Baracoa, the Chocolate team that will represent the municipality in the 45th Provincial Baseball Series was held, which will begin this month.
A publication from the territory’s Sports Directorate highlights that the aim is for new generations of athletes and coaches to be able to raise the flags and recover the sporting results of Baracoa in the new challenges.
The teams from the ten municipalities of the province and the youth team from the Rafael Freyre Sports Initiation School (EIDE) are invited to the event, and it will be held in two zones: the East (four teams) and the West (seven teams), in which the system of play shall be the series system, each team playing the match of all against all, three rounds in the easternmost section, and two in the westernmost section; The teams will play on Wednesdays and Saturdays, always a double game of seven innings each.
As planned by the provincial Baseball Commission, two teams from the East and four from the West will qualify for the semifinal stage. The EIDE selection does not qualify, but it will reach all the stages it manages to qualify for.
