Guantanamo.- The Basic Business Unit (UEB, in Spanish) for Dairy Products, in Baracoa, is looking for alternatives to maintain its production despite complex situations due to the lack of raw materials and the obsolescence of technology.
The use of endogenous products, acquired from the food industry and the Cocoa-Derivate -Products Enterprise as a method of productive linkage, had contributed to the running of this industry.
As a result, the UEB produces soft drinks and fruit juice, ice cream, natural and soy yogurt, and soy milk, which are distributed in the gastronomy service, social consumption and school snacks.
Although the lack of essential raw materials such as milk, sugar and vegetable fat affects the production of the products set out and the fulfillment of plans, the UEB is committed to promoting creativity to maintain offers for the most imminent services.
