Guantanamo. – On occasion of the Day of the Voluntary Blood Donor, an event is carried out in Yateras Municipality, a mountain region that belongs to Guantanamo, the easternmost province of Cuba.
The social park Francisco Adolfo Crombet Tejeda, located in the Palenque town, was the perfect scene to recognize the Yateras residents who, simply by donating blood, become lifesavers.
Mariledis Millán Acosta, the first secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in the mountain territory, attended the event and together with Ernis Silet Ramírez, Coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), gave the recognition to more than twenty-five men and women from that town who for more than ten years have extended their arms selflessly with this altruistic gesture to relieve illness and make the lives of Cubans and foreigners longer, if it is necessary.
At the municipal event for the day of the voluntary blood donor organizations such as Public Health, Culture and INDER recognized workers from their sectors who stand out in this human gesture, among them Hugo Durive, Idalimis Ruíz and Niusbel Dominguez, respectively.
At the same time, the Municipal Sports Directorate, Budgeted Health Unit and the Administration Council were recognized for their permanent support in blood donations.
In his speech, Ernis Silet Ramírez, Coordinator of the CDR in the Yateras municipality, in which he congratulated donors recognize and extended his appreciation to the more than three hundred and forty-five Yateras people who make up this life-saving army.
