The book “Yo Conocí a La Fornés” (I knew Fornes), which will be launched at the Fayad Jamís bookstore in Havana on July 12, recalls the memory of the Cuban vedette through testimonies and photos.
The book, published by En Vivo publishing house and written by Ángel Manuel and Rosalía Arnáez, combines 60 testimonies with a large collection of snapshots that recall Rosita Fornés (1923-2020) on her 100th birthday.
The event will bring together the authors of the book; Norma Gálvez, director of En Vivo publishing house; and journalist and critic Fernando Rodríguez Sosa to discuss this compilation that proposes a glimpse at the famous vedette, who was a symbol of Cuban musical culture.
The book is a recognition and a tribute to Rosita Fornés, who devoted her art to her people, an everlasting icon of a true artist, José Antonio Jiménez wrote in the preface of the book.
Songs performed by Leonor Zayas and Henry Mendiz that were part of Rosita Fornés’ repertoire will light up the event.
