Guantanamo.- Caimanera fishermen received Tuesday a training workshop on the new tax regulations (Gacetas 78), which since September 18, have been in force throughout Cuba.

At the Caimanera fishing cooperative, CAIMAR Base Business Unit, Mariano Barroso Martínez, director of the Tax Administration Office (ONAT) of the town, presented elements of interest on the social security regime, also of Law 93/2024 Modifying Law 113 “Of the Tax System”, as well as the retention of 5% of personal income, which in the case of fishermen have a contract with CAIMAR.

There, the taxes on the use of labor were also explained, where a 5% is applied to the wages paid to employees when hiring them for the development of the activity.

The ONAT director insisted on the section that refers to the non-compliance with the operation of the fiscal bank account, which constitutes a tax violation punishable according to the current tax regulations.

The cost of fuel and other instruments, including the fishing gear they need to carry out the activity, in addition to the cumbersome process for fishermen to complete the documentation required by these new regulations, were concerns of the fishermen present at the training workshop.
