Guantánamo.- Boxing, Tawandoo, Chess and Soccer are among the sports, most recognized in previous stages, potentialities from which the strategies of sports growth in the seaside town are based for the Olympic cycle 2025-2028. This was recognized by Santiago Pérez Rubio, high performance methodologist in Caimanera.
Elío Iznaga Reyes, Deputy Director of sports activities in the Guantánamo Province warned that they must include direct recruitment of athletes from the grass-root in the strategies, as fundamental elements of growth.
In the exchange between methodologists and teachers of different sports in the municipality, the initiatives implemented in this town were given priority, as well as the challenges and opportunities they face in their search to stand out in the Caimanera sports field at a national and international level.
The sports strategy in Caimanera is based on three essential pillars: the detection of talents, in collaboration with schools and communities, through programs to recruit young athletes, the training and development of coaches is another fundamental axis to consolidate the sports infrastructure, in the case of the latter with the aim of looking ahead because Caimanera faces limitations in terms of infrastructure in its sports facilities.
With effort and dedication, the sports future of this town seems brighter than ever. The history of sports in Caimanera is a milestone, and each step taken, is a step towards a promising future.
