Guantanamo The Guantánamo Salt Enterprise s is committed to diversifying local production by developing dermocosmetic products, which will also contribute to the economic and social development of the municipality of Caimanera by entering a new and attractive national and international market.
Susana Pérez Martínez, the technical director of the enterprise, explained to the press that the initiative utilizes natural resources to create high-quality salt-by-products, including dermocosmetics made from mud.
These products are useful in hospitals for treating acne, skin conditions, cellulite, and sagging skin, as well as for rehydration and joint rehabilitation.
The Salt Enterprise also includes the production of medicinal mud, which offers significant aesthetic and therapeutic benefits.
Following product certification and approval for its exploitation and commercialization, the project will also contribute to the local economy by one percent, explained the subsidiary’s technical director.
She added that confirmed clients include the Ministry of Public Health, physiotherapists, and the Hotel Caimanera, where the project also aims to restore the saline mud baths.
These products will also be exported to clients in Colombia. With the support of dermocosmetics experts, Salinera Guantánamo expects to launch its first batch within six months.
Dermocosmetics is the field that combines the principles of dermatology and cosmetics to develop topical products specifically formulated for skin care, without being medications, but with beneficial effects on skin function.
This option responds to the growing demand from patients for effective, safe and daily-use solutions for skin treatment, both preventively and in dermatological pathologies, a complementary tool to traditional pharmacological treatment, but under clinical and scientific prescription.
