As part of the Caimanera Sociocultural Program, in this seaside town, the presence of intellectuals, writers and artists is intensified, in scenarios like commerce, education, public administration, and mass media, through which they seek to promote and make visible the local culture.
The cultural sector also promoted conferences in the first half of the year, in which the following stand out: Economic sources, development strategies and identity of the Caimanera citizen for the ambassadors of the member countries of the European Union and “History, characteristics and consequences of the presence of the United States military base in Guantanamo Bay” to a delegation of educators from the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
The House of Culture, Art Gallery, and Public Library, mainly, gave attention to young talents, by inserting their work in cultural spaces and events that included crafts, paintings, drawings, photographs, dances, theater and literature, which allowed to stimulate the interest in the improvement of young artists while acting in the elevation of the capacity of understanding, participation and enjoyment of artistic manifestations by the Caimanera residents.
