Guantánamo.- The Caimar Basic Business Unit in the municipality of Caimanera that belongs to the Guantánamo Fishing Company, faced significant challenges during 2025 resulting from adverse economic conditions due to the tightening of the blockade imposed by the United States government on Cuba, which prevents access to necessary resources.

It was revealed during the sector’s Annual Balance Assembly, in which participants highlighted the negative impact, including unfavorable results in gross catch, failure to meet finished production targets, low technical availability of vessels, and a lack of spare parts.

Even so, the confirmation and sale of various products as part of the industrial process was significant during the past year, including meatballs, croquettes, sausages, hamburgers, and other by-products. Likewise, the production of goods and services, net sales, and labor productivity targets were met.

The meeting, which was attended by Álvaro Henríquez Estévez, First Secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Party in Caimanera, outlined a strategic plan to address shortcomings and improve upon the results of 2026.

Finally, the participants discussed the priority of updating business structures, which will allow them to focus their efforts on supporting the planned strategic actions, with the aim of achieving significant and sustainable growth this year.
