Guantanamo.- The continuous development of bilateral relations, appreciated with satisfaction by the presidents of the National Assemblies (Parliaments) of Cambodia, Khuon Sudary, and Cuba, Esteban Lazo, was highlighted by the media in this capital on Wednesday.

Sudary and Lazo met on Tuesday in the context of the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, currently in session in Geneva, where they emphasized that those ties, based on mutual trust, solidarity, and a shared commitment to peace and development, will further strengthen in the coming years.

The AKP news agency reported in this capital that the meeting reflected a firm mutual determination to preserve the legacy of friendship and collaboration, and to continue contributing to world peace, multilateralism, and the well-being of future generations.

Both leaders emphasized the need to enhance cooperation in all sectors.

They agreed that such efforts are essential to promote peace, stability, and inclusive development for the benefit of both peoples, as the world faces geopolitical and economic tensions and non-traditional security threats.

Lazo congratulated Cambodia on the recent declaration of a ceasefire with Thailand and reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to continuing mutual support in the international arena.

The meeting between the heads of the legislatures of Cambodia and Cuba also took place in the year in which both nations commemorate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations, which were established on April 15, 1960.

In June, Sudary received in this capital Cuban Ambassador to the Kingdom, Milena Zaldivar, to whom he expressed his confidence in the growth of the solid relations of friendship between the two nations.
